Sara Schwartz is the Greenwich Village Neighborhood Expert

Hi Friends,

I am excited to share in more detail my feature on the @CorcoranRentals Instagram as the neighborhood expert of the Greenwich Village! It is hard not to feel like you are living on a movie set with all of the brownstones, ivy-covered townhouses, and moody tree-lined blocks in this slice of Heaven in the middle of Manhattan. Greenwich Village does not have the hustle and bustle of some neighborhoods, and you know your neighbors and their dogs! The mornings are quiet and peaceful and the nights full of energy. It is filled with small boutiques, coffee shops, and some of the greatest restaurants in the city all while being incredibly central. It's hard to choose favorites, but please see below for some of the best spots that I frequent often!

Best Cocktail

Dante New York City on MacDougal Street. Their "Salty Dog" is hands down the best cocktail on Earth.

Best Dinner

How can one even choose!? Some of my favorite dishes are the tuna tarts at BondSt, Pizza at Roey’s, chocolate ravioli at babbo, crab toast and cheese plate from Amelie, lemon pasta at Rosemary’s, and the linguine vongole at Osteria57.

Best Date Spots

For a coffee date: Rosecrans is THE spot. It’s this unique combination coffee shop/floral paradise all rolled into one to create an adorably curated labyrinth of antiques, whimsical accessories, and the loveliest plants and flowers the city has to offer.

For a seafood lovers date: Jeffery’s Grocery. Fresh oysters, lobster pasta (Monday’s only), and the best French fries within a festive environment that feels as much Portland, Maine as NYC.

For a brunch date: Pancakes at Quality Eats, lobster benedict at Claudette, or a cash-only bagel from Bagel Bobs as you stroll through early morning Washington Square Park.

Get Outside

Jefferson Market Garden. Fun fact: They had pineapples growing there two years ago.

Live Like a Local

Ad Hoc Collective: A fabulous coffee shop/cafe hidden in the lower garden level of a West Village building. It is quaint, quiet and a real locals spot. The homemade food and drinks are all prepared to order and served in/on vintage china.

Lahn: A small women’s boutique filled with clothing and accessories from local and small-batch designers. If you want to wear what everyone else is NOT wearing, shop here!

Diana Broussard: The coolest statement jewelry designed in the Village.

Fun Fact: All three of the above are female-owned!

Buyer and Renter Knowledge

It is not cheap, the apartments are not huge, but it is worth every penny, small closet, walkup, creaky floor, clanking radiator to live here!

Stay tuned for more on the Female Owned Businesses that I mentioned we have something very special coming soon!
